Contemporary Home in Santa Ysabel Ranch

French Farmhouse Downtown Templeton

This house was originally built in the 1950's in downtown Templeton.  Originally this house was just a box with no character, orange shag carpet, lime green walls but a nice sized lot a few blocks from the park and downtown.  I have always liked the colors and details in French Architecture.  The style we went with is what I would call French Farmhouse.  The details are refined, rustic and have a European feel.  Materials used include Limestone counters, Marble, exposed hand carved beams, aged painted and stained cabinets, European style closets, and a focus on the grays, blues, creams with accents of red and gold.  To fit in the the agricultural community of Templeton the garage is a detached barn with a loft above.

SYR Modern Prairie, Templeton

 This Modern Prairie home we built in the exclusive Santa Ysabel Ranch in Templeton.  The style is a classic blend of the Frank Lloyd Wright prairie lines with a modern twist. The whole house is designed to entertain and take advantage of the incredible views of the city. The exterior finishes were a mix of materials including acrylic stucco with horizontal fry riglet, natural slate stone, horizontal mangaris siding and multiple corner windows.  Interior finishes include horizontal grain cabinets throughout with quartzite, quartz and honed granite countertops, bamboo and cork floors, Hansgrohe and Kohler fixtures including a freestanding tub surrounded by windows, floating wood ceilings, refrigerated wine cellar, built in closet cabinets, mahogany doors, and stacking glass horizontal sliding doors.

Lake Nacimiento House Remodel

The owners came to us after we had just finished a new custom home for their neighbors.  We started the design process by looking at a plan that they already had for an addition to the home from a few years back.  The design called for a new addition to solve the problems of there old space.  Our final design looked at rearranging the space they already had.  We only added about 50 square feet but we made all the existing space usable.  The exterior of the house was very Colonial  and the interior was in need of an update.  We wanted to keep the formal feature that go with a Colonial but make it easy to live in.  

The main floor was gutted and moved around.  The rarely used formal living room was converted into a dining room and pantry and opened up to the new kitchen.  The Kitchen was moving into the old dining room and the family room was opened up and renovated.  New windows, exterior doors and stucco color coat also freshened up the exterior.

Modern Ranch

This Modern Ranch remodel was a complete transformation from the original 1960's paneled ranch.  The owner was looking for a lot big enough for a pool in downtown Templeton to be close to her family. The lot was amazing, a block from the downtown park, steps from family and a 1/2 acre leaving plenty of room for a pool for the grand kids.  We took the house down to studs and rebuilt.  In the process giving it new life as an open concept modern ranch that can entertain many more people than the size suggests. Key features that needed to be included were: A kitchen that would work for baking, a Liebherr refrigerator, open concept to entertain with a large view of the pool, and a master suite that included a freestanding tub and two sided fireplace.

Galley Kitchen Rennovation

Original kitchen was a small tight galley kitchen.  By enlarging the kitchen by one foot, opening up the walls on each side of the new range location and adding a large peninsula the kitchen not only feels twice a large but is now opened up to the rest of the house.  White cabinets with a dark grey subway tile backsplash were used for the perimeter cabinets to keep the kitchen light and airy.  We contrasted the white cabinets with dark stained grey cabinets with a light grey subway tile backsplash to accent the range.

Farmhouse Bath

This remodeled bath was designed to combined the beauty and rustic nature of a farmhouse style in combination of the refinement of a spa.  The shower door and hand hewn beam are custom made in house from 100 year old reclaimed barn wood from the Midwest.  A glass panel floats on the back of the door to keep the water in the shower when closed.  Behind the door is extra hidden storage.  A trough drain provides a curbless transition into shower.  Ample storage throughout from custom White Oak cabinets. Bathroom lighting and mirrors by Restoration Hardware.  The York tub is volcanic limestone by Victoria & Albert.  Along with the beam work in the ceiling, exterior grade shiplap was installed on one wall.

West Templeton Craftsman

This contemporary Craftsman home was built for artist clients who previously lived in the Pasadena area.  Surrounded by the birthplace and epicenter of Craftsman design it was important for the owners when relocating to wine country to keep with the traditional colors, materials and furniture.  But unlike the original Craftsmans this home was designed with energy efficient and maintenance reducing measures.
