One of my remodel clients in Edna Valley, actually brought this great new green building product to my attention.  She has a friend in LED development who turned her on to Cree LED recessed cans -http://www.creeledlighting.com-. I have never been a huge fan of the quality of light that fluorescents provide although I do appreciate the energy savings.  LED’s have always seemed a much more logical solution to me. They are much more efficient, have a huge life expectancy, emit minimal heat, and are much brighter with a better quality of light. Cree Lighting has a recessed LED can that can be installed in new construction or as a replacement for an existing incandescent recessed can. It takes just a few minutes to install and is available in both 4″ and 6″ cans with a variety of trims. The life expectancy of 50,000 hours and the ability to work with a standard dimmer helps offset the initial cost. As far a design, they are the cleanest look of all the recessed cans, having frosted glass and no exposed bulbs.
